To visit the Renaissance Sectors is not simply to travel outward from the Core, but to enter a part of Imperial civilization shaped by extraordinary distances and long periods of separation, where cultures descended from the same ancient civilizational inheritance have developed distinctive customs, architecture, cuisines, fashions, industries, festivals, and social traditions of their own.
Some worlds possess cities whose foundations predate surviving local records; others have undergone spectacular periods of reconstruction within comparatively recent history. Great commercial capitals stand within transit distance of university worlds, pleasure systems, agricultural provinces, forest planets, industrial territories, resort enclaves, and settlements whose populations still maintain customs largely unknown beyond their immediate region.
The result is not a single recognizable “Renaissance culture,” but a vast mosaic of societies connected by the increasingly busy corridors of the Renaissance Covenant and by their renewed participation in the larger Imperial.

STAR CHART: The Renaissance Sectors
What appears before us is the furthest extent of retained Imperial mapping, compressed until regions spanning innumerable galaxies can be perceived as a single coherent structure. The chart is accurate, but it is not resolved; vast transitional regions collapse into apparent boundaries, galaxies become points, and entire civilizations disappear beneath the limits of representation. At this scale, the Greater Vandyrian Empire must be understood as an abstraction.
Greater detail is obtained through successive levels of resolution. Each mapped region may be examined independently, revealing the galactic structures, stellar territories, systems, and inhabited worlds concealed within the greater abstraction. Nothing has been removed from the Empire before us. It has merely been compressed by scale.
To understand the Greater Vandyrian Empire, then, we must proceed inward.
